City Golf Championship Winners

The Third Annual DeBary City Golf Championship was held on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at the DeBary Golf & Country Club. John Henry, a DeBary resident, won the coveted title of Gross City Champion, with a low gross score of 75. Dave Edwards, from Longwood, helf off the field to take the Net City Championship Trophy, with a net score of 77.

The Third Annual Lake Mary City Golf Championship was held on Sunday, September 18,2011, at the Magnolia Plantation Golf Club in Lake Mary, FL. Jay Sampselle, a Palm Coast resident braved extreme weather conditions and torrential rain to win the coveted title of Gross City Champion, with a score of 84. A Net score of 68 gave Gary Taylor the edge in winning the Net Championship Award. An avid golfer, Gary is a resident of Orlando, FL. The annual event is held by DCi to raise funds for the Youth Education Scholarship (YES) Fund, to benefit local High School graduates. Other Flight Winners were as follows: A Flight Gross - Andrew Sigler 76, A Flight Net - Carl Isbell 69, B Flight Gross - Andy Bailey 80, B Flight Net - Nathan Roque 66, C Flight Gross - Roger Stout 96, C Flight Net - Hector Ontiveros 70.

The Orlando City Golf Championship is scheduled for Sunday, November 21, 2010, at the MetroWest Golf Club. Player and Sponsor Registration is currently underway. All golfers with a handicap from 0-30 may participate in this Citywide event. DCI has introduced a Ladies Orlando City Golf Championship. Women golfers with a handicap from 0-40 may participate. Owen Curry, a lake Mary resident who is originally from Colchester, England, won the coveted title of Gross City Champion, with a score of 72. Fifty-One year old Russell McLatchey, also from Lake Mary, held off a field of 45 players, to take the Net City Championship Trophy with a score of 66. The annual event is held by DCi to raise funds for the Youth Education Scholarship (YES) Fund, to benefit local High School graduates. Matt Demetree, of Sanford, won the coveted Gross City Champion Trophy with a low gross score of 75, while Dale Martin, of Lake Mary, won the Low Net City Champion Trophy with a low net score of 95. The annual event is held to raise funds for the Youth Education Scholarship (YES) Fund, to benefit local High School graduates. Other Flight Winners were as follows: A Flight Gross - Fred Beramel 79, A Flight Net - David Dempsey 73, B Flight Gross - Carl Isbell 86, B Flight Net - Jose Unamuno73, C Flight Gross - Roger Stout 92, C Flight Net - Evola Frye 70.

The Lake Mary City Golf Championship was held on Nov. 21st and 22nd at Magnolia Plantation and Timacuan Golf Club, in Lake Mary, FL. Seventeen year old Nick Spencer of Lake Mary, won the coveted Gross City Champion Trophy with a low gross score of 150, while Gary Longfritz, also of Lake Mary, won the Low Net City Champion Trophy with a low net score of 130. The competitive field battled for two days to raise funds for the Youth Education Scholarship (YES) Fund, to benefit local High School graduates. Other Flight Winners were as follows: A Flight Gross - Tony Pagan 154, A Flight Net - Matthew Demetree 142, B Flight Gross - Gerald Smith 165, B Flight Net - Patrick Rinard 142, C Flight Gross - Anthony Aiello 184, C Flight Net - Dale Martin 137.

The DeBary City Golf Championship was held on Sept. 19th & 20th, 2009 at DeBary Golf & Country Club in DeBary, FL. Mark Doucette of Deltona won the coveted Gross City Champion Trophy with a low gross score of 154, while Joe Crispell of Longwood beat the field to take the Low Net City Champion Trophy with a low net score of 145. The competitive field battled for two days on superb course conditions to raise funds for the Youth Education Scholarship (YES) Fund, to benefit local High School graduates. Other Flight Winners were as follows: A Flight Gross - Michel Bourgon 163, A Flight Net - Blake Barber 151, B Flight Gross - Rob White 180, B Flight Net - Rolee Eggert 152, C Flight Gross - Jon Turner 201, C Flight Net - Frank Miller 161.


DeSilva Communications Launches City Golf Championship

DCI/DeSilva Communications has launched a series of City Golf Championships to promote the game of golf, provide players with a fun, competitive sporting event, raise Scholarship Funds for local High School Seniors and engage the local business community to promote their products and services by supporting the Tournament. Golfers of ALL levels are invited to play in this major City Wide Championship Golf Tournament. This unique event provides the opportunity for that local golfer (both hacker and accomplished golfer alike), to compete and be crowned "The City Golf Champion." The Tournament is comprised of Four Flights based on a Handicap of 0 - 30. For those players who do not have an official USGA handicap index, the Tournament will provide a handicap based on the GHIN system. The City Golf Championship is the single largest Amateur Golf Tournament held in each participating City. The weekend event is open to men, women and juniors.
